What do you think of baby showers?
Are they an honored tradition? Or a way for the mom-to-be to get stuff for free? Did you have a baby shower?
I didn’t have a baby shower for either of my children. The first time around, I felt weird getting in touch with people I hadn’t seen or talked to in about three years, and having the initial contact being an invitation to an event where they’re obligated to spend money. The second time, I just didn’t think about it, as I was very busy working full time, trying to save, hunt for an apartment, and stay sane.
Looking back on it, a baby shower would have been exciting, as I’m always up for a party, but would I have needed the gifts I would have been (theoretically, at least) showered with? Probably not. We re-used a lot of what we had for my first child, and everything else was purchased with our own money.
