What was the best piece of parenting advice ever given to you?

Mine would have to be the age old “sleep when baby sleeps”. As hard as it is to do, I have to realize that the laundry, dirty dishes and dusty television screen will be there waiting for me. It’s hard to leave (minor) messes to lay where they are, but sleep is essential. What good is a sparkling clean house if you can barely keep your eyes open to take care of and enjoy your baby?
