Michelle Duggar is expecting her seventeenth child. What are your thoughts on this?
My honest opinion is that there is no reason to have so many children. There is no way on God’s green earth that two people can provide adequate attention and affection to seventeen children. There is only so much two people can do, and provide one-on-one love, affection and attention to seventeen children is just not happening.
I also think it is wrong of the Duggars to expect their older children to be nothing more than live-in babysitters to the younger children. Aren’t these children entitled to their own lives? Who gives Michelle and Jim Duggar the right to cast their older children in the roles of babysitter and housekeeper because they themselves can’t handle seventeen children?
That aside, I am also concerned with the way the children are being raised. The Duggars expect their children to stay on the land and continue to live the life of a Duggar – have child after child and do nothing but parent and play housekeeper from sunup to sundown, day after day, year after year. In my opinion, that is not much of a life.

I don’t feel that it’s anyone’s business, honestly. It’s in their belief system to accept as many children as God blesses them with. They may have 17 kids, but they are better behaved than most other children from small families. They may not get a ton of one on one attention from their parents each day, but what about families who stick their children in day care for 8 hrs a day? Those kids miss out as well. I don’t know of any parent who pays one on one attention to their kids all day long. They learn early on that sacrifice is a must and we all can’t have what we want all of the time. They are debt free, and don’t live off the government in any way or beg money from anyone. While I don’t want 17 kids, I have no right to judge.
