I wish I knew. The rule around here is no streaking until you're potty trained! But at that point they seem to lose interest.

Someone tell my son to stop taking his clothes off, because he's not listening to me!

Why am I so tired?

Leaving kids in cars
Posted on March 22, 2007 at 7:55pm

Found on another parenting community…

I just had rather a heated confrontation with a woman at a service station, as I saw her leave her baby in the car while she went in to pay for petrol. I - of course - just couldn’t let that go, I was so mad, so I confronted her asking if she knew that not only was it illegal to leave a baby in a car like that, but it’s also incredibly unsafe, to which she replied that she didn’t think it was illegal just to pay for petrol, it’s only 2 mins, and I informed her that babies take less than that to die in a hot car in the sun with no windows down (I don’t actually know if it takes that long, but I had to think fast and that’s what came out), and then she started talking to me as though I wouldn’t understand, so I quickly shows her my ‘baby on board’ sticker and said I too have a baby and would NEVER risk leaving him in the car so I can get out of the service station 2 minutes quicker.

There shuold be signs up or something telling people not only the fine for leaving a baby in the car, but also the danger of it.

I just had to vent. Has anyone here ever had a situation like that, where you’ve just had to say something? Often when stuff like that happens you don’t say anything and fume about it later, but sometimes not saying anything isn’t an option you know?

A lot of the comments to this post told the original poster that she should have minded her own business, that it’s a pain to drag kids out of a car just for a minute or two, nothing will happen, yadda yadda yadda.

I agree with the original poster. You should not leave small children unattended in cars, locked or not. Too many things can happen in the blink of an eye. A gas pump could explode. A carjacker could break your window and steal your car. Your car could explode. Another car could run into yours. Your child could spontaneously choke on something.

Better safe than sorry, especially when it comes to children. I drag my child(ren) in with me, pay at the pump, or I don’t go out.
