I can’t stress enough how important it is for mothers to have a break. Even if it’s just for a few hours, or even a few days, a woman needs time to kick back and relax, without worrying about breastfeeding, baby food, diapers, chasing after screaming toddlers, engaging in a battle of wills with a stubborn grade school aged child, etc.
I just got back from dropping off my two and a half year old daughter at my mother’s house. She is going to enjoy three nights and three days at “Me-mom’s” house. Of course I’ll call over each day to say good morning and good night, but other than that I plan on spending my weekend enjoying plenty of “me” time.
