IVF1, a in vitro fertilization center located in Chicago and Naperville, Illinois, is headed by a fertility specialist named Dr. Randy Morris. Dr. Moriss’ goal is to help couples understand infertility and what factors may be causing it, and to resolve it and ultimately produce a (successful) pregnancy.
Dr. Morris uses a treatment called PGD. PGD – known in long form as pre implantation genetic diagnosis – is where eggs that are removed from a woman are first analyzed to select the best ones. Those selected are then injected with a single sperm. They are left for a day to form, and are then analyzed again to see which ones have begun to develop properly. At that point, the properly developing fertilized egg would be placed into the woman’s uterus, in the hopes that a pregnancy would form and continue.
