I hate having to squeeze in our insurance payments each month. Our car insurance is roughly $100 for liability coverage on our two vehicles (I’d love to have comprehensive on our Hyundai, but the prices are out of this world!), and our homeowners insurance works out to be $300/year, but we have to pay in three year increments, so we’re looking at $900 plus taxes and fees that come to another $18.
But insurance is a necessity. Car accidents happen. Random drive-by vandalisms, dings in cars and flat tires happen. And when it comes to homes, you had better have home insurance, especially because of fires, robberies, and other damages that can crop up.
But, despite my gripes, I am thankful that we don’t live in Philadelphia. We would be looking at $3000 a year for liability insurance- for one vehicle. And I’m sure the home insurance would be much higher as well, due to property values and the amount of crime that goes on in Philadelphia.
Life insurance is something my husband has, but I don’t have yet. I should really look into it, because you never know. I’d hate to think of us leaving our kids behind without any financial support.
