I joined a mothering message board exactly one week ago. To date I have racked up nearly 100 posts, and close to half were probably wasted on explaining to women why it is not a good idea to give your six month old baby cow’s milk.
One response I got was along the lines of, “Well, Dr. Newman said it’s okay to give a six month old breast milk!”
Um. No. What he really said (see, unlike these silly wenches I take the time to research) was:
Though there has been a lot of publicity recently about not giving babies cow’s milk until at least 9 months, this does not really apply to breastfeeding babies. The breastfeeding baby can take some of his milk as cow’s milk after about 6 months of age, especially if he is starting to take substantial amounts of a wide variety of solids as well. -article
I cannot stand people who deliberately misrepresent information or only represent part of it to make it look as though it favors their cause. ERGH.
