Like clockwork

After I had my daughter, I breastfed her for two months, then pumped to provide breast milk for the following eight months. Since pumping is not as efficient as breastfeeding, I had to supplement with formula.
Despite supplementing, my period returned at eight weeks postpartum but was very irregular.

I had my son almost a year ago. Despite breastfeeding exclusively from the very beginning and still breastfeeding now, my period returned at eight weeks postpartum and has been regular month after month. It has been on time right down to the day, with the exception of a few months ago.

What gives? I see all these breastfeeding women bragging about their periods not returning until six, eight, nine, ten, even fifteen months… and mine is back right away. Grr!
