When I first discovered the internet in 1998 (okay, so I played with it a little before then in public libraries), I couldn’t get over how fun and innovative e-cards were. I sent e-cards to everybody I knew, even if there was no special occassion. I sent e-cards for the heck of it, or for those little holidays that exist but nobody really thinks about (like National Boss Day, etc.). And when the real holidays rolled around, you can bet I went crazy with sending e-cards!
After a while I lost interest and went back to sending traditional through-the-US-mail cards. It was fun to create cards by hand, decorate the envelopes and then mail them off.
But now? Being busy with kids and working at home? I’m definitely going back to sending e-cards. They’re much faster, can be sent last minute, and can even have set send dates, so I can plan as far ahead as I want!
A great example of an e-card can be found at virtualsandscale.com, where you can make virtual Sandcastles (and check out a cool vacation idea – if you do decide to go to the beach, make sure to take me with you!).
Here is the e-card I just created… what do you think of it?
