My son has been at my mother’s for the last four days. I would be lying if I said I wasn’t enjoying the peace and quiet that comes with taking care of one very independent toddler.
But I would also be lying if I said I didn’t miss my son.
But still. Every mother needs a break. Every few weeks my mom and I give each other a break by taking one or both kids off the other’s hands. Did I mention that I have two school-aged brothers? The oldest just turned twelve, and the other is nine. Usually I take the twelve year old, as he is more behaved for me and the louder one for my mom. She usually takes my son, as he isn’t too bad at getting into things yet. Wait. Scratch that. He’s crawling now, so he’s into stuff all of the time. At least my two and a half year old doesn’t put everything in her mouth and throw cat food all over the floor!
