Alyssa is 100% potty trained. She took to it like a fish takes to water. I really think a lot of our success can be attributed to introducing the concept of the potty to her without forcing it on her. Last January, when Alyssa was just a few months over the age of two, we picked out one of those toilet ring inserts. We sat her on it several times, and let her watch us go to the bathroom, while talking about going to the bathroom. She never did anything, but she was showing interest, and we were educating her. Both were steps in the right direction!
Then, in May, we bought a regular potty seat. Alyssa would use it two or three times per day, and we would praise her like crazy. Then she and I got really sick, I got busy, and she lost interest. About two weeks ago, she got interested again. Alyssa went from diapers all day to diapers at night in just two days, with only three accidents. Last week she went diaper free. Since then she has had two accidents, the kind of accidents that result from her not getting to the bathroom in time, rather than her just not going.
I. am. thrilled. My diaper duties have been halved. She loves her underwear, and I love my big girl! I’d say that being fully potty trained a month shy of her third birthday is a great accomplishment, right?
