Time and again I hear about how well behaved my children are. I suppose they are. I also suppose I’m very lucky that they are well behaved! But tell me, parents of kids over the age of three – will my luck change? Or will children that were well behaved since infancy through toddlerhood remain well behaved for the rest of their childhood years?
Today I accompanied my mom to an appointment she had with her lawyer, in regards to a custody issue between her and her ex-husband (her emotionally abusive and physically abusive ex-husband, who sees my brothers perhaps three times a year, doesn’t pay child support in full and on time and recently requested the cancellation of said child support then turned around and filed for custody!). We were in the office for an hour and a half. During that time, Ryan, my one year old, sat quietly in his stroller. I kept him well supplied with cookies, milk, a pacifier, toys, my keys, and paper. It wasn’t until the end of the appointment that he began to fuss a bit.
So tell me, am I lucky? Will my luck hold out? I hope it does!
