This summer has just been all over the place. I suddenly landed an almost full time freelance writing time. My mom slipped into depression, and I spent a lot of time and energy trying to help her, and generally worrying about her. My grandfather developed gangrene in late July and was in the hospital for almost all of August, and then for the first two weeks of September. Just yesterday he was transported to a nursing home for physical therapy and antibiotic therapy (via IV). I visited with out of state friends in late June. My brother’s twelfth birthday was on July 1st. My son’s first birthday was on July 26th. My dad came up for a short visit on August 7th, but has wound up staying far past the originated three or four days – he is still here (“here” as in in up with us – he is staying with my mom). Then, of course, there is my now one year old who started walking last month, and my nearly three year old who was potty trained/is now potty trained.
As a result, our schedules, particularly sleeping ones, have been all over the damned place, and everywhere but where they should be. I, for one, am exhausted. I’m running on about five hours of broken sleep, and was on the go from about 9am until 11:45pm, when I finally came home with the kids, put them to bed, ran around and collected trash to be put out for the garbage collectors in the morning, and collapsed here in front of my computer to take care of some online work.
Whew. How has your week been?
