My day:
My day has been spent cleaning. First I hit the living room, tidying up the desks, straightening up the sofa and chair pillows, putting away movies, tossing excess toys into a basket to take to the kids’ bedrooms, and then vacuuming.
Next came Alyssa’s bedroom. I straightened out her closet, enlisted her help in picking up paper and crayons, made her bed, straightened out the clothes in her drawer, re-organized her toys and put aside a bunch to be trashed and a bunch to be recycled.
Then came the kids’ bathroom. I cleaned the sink and toilet, scooped the cat litter and emptied the trash.
Finally, Ryan’s bedroom. I changed his crib sheet, straightened up the changing table and its shelves full of diapers and diapering supplies, and put all of his toys away.
I then vacuumed his room, the hallway, and Alyssa’s bedroom.
The kitchen came next – putting dishes away, loading the dishwasher, sweeping and mopping.
I tossed both kids into the tub for a bath, and kept them company while I folded laundry. After they were dressed, they had lunch – grilled ham and cheese sandwiches with green beans and Dora the Explorer fruit snacks – while I started the dishwasher and loaded laundry into the washer.
My husband’s day:
My husband got up at 9:30am. His brother, who stayed over last night, also got up. They got dressed, ate breakfast (leaving the dishes on the table for me, of course), then go into the car and left to go pick up their sisters, and then make the two and a half hour drive down to Six Flags Great Adventure amusement park in New Jersey.
…Clearly, somebody got the short end of the stick here.
