When it comes to food preferences, I got really lucky with Alyssa. Since we first introduced solids, and continuing to the present, Alyssa has always loved fruits and vegetables. Well, she turned her nose up at the green vegetables, but now that she’s older she eats them quite well. In fact, broccoli and green beans are her favorite vegetables. She routinely eats large helpings of vegetables at lunch and dinner, and still asks for more!
Ryan, on the other hand, is like his father: a real meat and potatoes kind of guy. He enjoys fruit, but is a pain to stuff vegetables down. Once in a while he’ll willingly grab up corn or carrots, but I usually have to push it on him a few times to get him to eat it. And even then, he still balks.
Alyssa also enjoys meat. She loves steak, beef hot dogs and ham loaf. But really, when it comes to food, she devours the vegetables before anything else. Ryan goes for the meat, picks at the vegetables, and squawks for more vegetables and potatoes.
