Poor Alyssa. Her transition from a crib to a regular bed – a toddler bed – came out of left field, along with a new house and a new baby brother. In her case, she handled the change quite well, and I think suddenly having a new home to live in and a new little person around really made the new bed seem like no big deal. Especially since she had slept in regular beds in the past, with myself and sometimes with my mother. At the time, Alyssa was 21 months old.
Ryan has outgrown his crib. It is at its lowest setting, and when he stands up and leans over the railing he could definitely fall over and out! Dan and I were about to pull out the toddler bed frame for him, when we were given a very nice twin-sized bed from a family member. So, now it is setup and in his bedroom. But since he is so young – he’ll be fifteen months old on the 26th – we left the crib mattress in his bedroom, and put it on the floor and in the corner. He is doing well with sleeping on it, and I have a feeling he is REALLY enjoying the freedom he has in his bedroom.
How old were your children when you moved them to a regular bed?
