You know, today’s kids have all the fun taken away from them. When I was a child, Trick or Treating for Halloween began, well, whenever kids started roaming the streets! I would usually rush home from school that day (it seemed like Halloween was almost always on a school day), do my homework, and then get dressed in my costume. I would look outside and wait until I saw other kids, and then go running out to join them. Trick or Treating was over when the candy ran out! I remember one year being out Trick or Treating until almost midnight. No lie!
Now? Specified days, specified times. Some years Trick or Treating isn’t even on Halloween. LAME. And the time is always the same – 6pm to 8pm. LAME.
But, whatever. I’ll deal.
This year we’re dressing Alyssa as a princess and Ryan as a dragon. We’ll put out a bowl of candy and then head out with the kids.
