It isn’t until you or a loved one begins to lose their memory that you realize just how important it is. Right now my grandfather is residing in a nursing home. He has been falsely accused of having the beginnings of dementia/Alzheimer’s. While he does not have this devastating disease, there are many that do.
Currently, there is no cure for Alzheimer’s. Individuals and agencies and groups worldwide are searching desperately for a cure for this disease that ravages the mind, and thus the person and their family members. Of course, it is important to remember that while the search for a cure is extremely important, the careful care and guidance of those who are currently suffering from the disease must not be forgotten about or overlooked.
Consider making a contribution to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America. Help those with Alzheimer’s, and help those who are looking for a cure for Alzheimer’s.
Also, did you know that November is the National Memory Screening month? Check out nationalmemoryscreening.org to find out about the nation wide free screenings that will be taking place on November 13th, 2007. Find out more about Alzheimer’s Disease, and then sign yourself and your family members up for screenings at one of the various screening sites that will be available. After all, memory screenings are the first steps towards caring and curing.
