I’m watching Bastard out of Carolina. The movie came out in 1996, and even though I was only twelve years old, I really wanted to watch it. But my mom got wind of the content of the movie, she refused to let me watch it. So, I’m watching it now. And I’m disgusted and horrified by the mother, Anney, who would subject her daughter to physical and sexual abuse time and time again, and allow the perpetrator into her life time and time again. And to think, this movie probably accurately represents a large percentage of those involved with physical and sexual abuse. It is incredibly sad.
