I think I’m going to tell my mom about bettercaring.com. It may be a website based in and written for the United Kingdom, but it has a lot of great information on nursing homes, care home, and elderly care in general. Right now we’re dealing with a rather unpleasant situation concerning my grandfather being declared mentally incapacitated when he’s really not, and a legal guardianship in place that is doing nothing more than taking my grandfather’s money, neglecting to pay his bills (seriously – his propane tanks were pulled from his home last month, Comcast has been to his home twice to collect their equipment, and his car is in danger of being repossessed), and threatening to cut my mom off “entirely” if she dares to complain to anyone. Needless to say, it’s a really screwed up situation.
