I am idiot. You see, only an idiot would walk into Picture People at 6pm on a Saturday night, well into the Christmas shopping season, and actually expect to be expected as a walk-in. Luckily, once the disbelief, laughter, amusement and embarrassment on my part subsided, I was able to schedule an actual appointment for 9:30pm tonight.
So to kill time, we took Alyssa and Ryan to see Santa Claus! Dear ‘ol Santa was on a probably much needed coffee break, so we waited for a half an hour in line. But amazingly, both kids were GREAT during that time. Alyssa sang and danced, and Ryan wandered around. He also wowed the parents in front of us, who were shocked at the difference in size between their petite fifteen month old and our rather strapping sixteen month old (at his December 3rd appointment he was 28 lbs. and 33″ tall).
On the way to the mall we almost got sideswiped twice, and on the way back we almost got t-boned by a woman who ran a red light, but otherwise our evening at the mall (twice; after we saw Santa we still had time to kill, so we went to my mom’s to visit) was uneventful.
