Dan and I are busy making plans for a weekend trip to Pittsburgh in February. So long as he is able to get the requested days off, we will be leaving for Pittsburgh on the afternoon of Friday, February 15th. We’ll get there Friday evening, and spend the weekend enjoying the city we loved so much when we lived there. Then we’ll return home on Monday, February 18th.
My mom and brothers will come and stay here with the kids while we’re gone. She was our first choice for babysitting, as she has taken care of both kids numerous times, and is, obviously, a mother and very experienced with kids. Our second choice was having Dan’s sisters, who are fourteen and fifteen, staying here for the weekend, with my mom stopping by and calling every little bit to make sure everything was okay.
While I trust Dan’s sisters and want to give them a chance to babysit, since they want to, I must admit that I feel more comfortable with my mom staying with our two. Dan’s sisters don’t have much experience with babysitting, and caring for a very busy, constantly on the go eighteen month old and a mischievous (but sweet!) three year old could be a little much for them right off the bat. I’d rather start them off with a few hours worth of babysitting while we went to dinner or something.
So, here’s a question for you: if you have kids, when did you first leave them with babysitters? How did it go?
