Ryan is bracing himself against the kitchen table and making the pooping expression. It's hilarious and gross all at the same time.

@teresamaree Happy Birthday! :)

I'm sleepy. :(

@palenaki naked. ;) Shame on me, heh.

Liar liar, pants on fire
Posted on May 27, 2008 at 4:44pm

I think we have a little liar on our hands. I’m not sure how it started, but I do know that it started this morning. I was taking a shower, and Alyssa came into the bathroom and asked if she could take a shower with me. Normally I would say yes, but right now I have a pretty painful sunburn, so my shower was on the cooler side (almost chilly, in fact), and I wasn’t up to bending and twisting around much — basically, doing anything that would pull on my swollen, burned skin.

So I told Alyssa no, and that she could take a shower with me next time. She left, and I thought that was that.

Not so. She comes back in a few minutes later. “Daddy said yes!”

Now, I know that Daddy — my husband — would not say yes. First, he knows I’m sunburned and very uncomfortable, at best, and in downright crappy pain, at usual. Second, he would leave the decision up to me even under normal circumstances. So I told her no again, and sent her on her way.

This afternoon, she asked me for a snack. I said no, because she had just had a snack about a half hour before, and I was preparing lunch. She went over to Dan, who was across the room from me, and asked him. He said no. She comes back to me. “Daddy said yes!” Again, I told her no, and that I know that Daddy said no, so she shouldn’t lie, because lying is bad.

Then she did it to Dan. She asked Dan something, and he said no (I think it was to go outside: she had just been outside for well over an hour, and was still flushed and sweaty, with reddened cheeks and arms). She came over to me in the kitchen and told me he said yes. This time I took her aside and told her sternly that she was lying, and lying is bad.

But I don’t think she knows the concept of lying. For once I’m at a bit of a loss as to how to explain to her what she is doing is wrong, that it’s lying, and that she can’t DO it!
