I totally ‘fess up: we watched way too much TV over the summer months. I think even Alyssa and Ryan OD’ed on PBS and Nick Jr., because for the past few weeks we’ve been going through DVDs: Bolt, Curious George, and lots of Blue’s Clues, Wow Wow Wubbzy and Hello Kitty.
I feel so bad writing that, but damn, I will be honest. I’m not one to drag the kids out to play when it’s cold and bitter. Not for any length of time, anyway. Now I’m looking forward to the warmer weather so that we can go out more, but it’s being a damn tease. Last week we took the kids to the park on a day when it was sunny and about 55 degrees. Two days before that I took both kids with me to visit my brother at his school, and it was so warm that we didn’t even need sweaters and hoodies while we were outside enjoying the sunshine and a local park.
But today? It was like winter all over again. Silly me woke up thinking it would actually be nice out, but the sunshine was a tease. It was windy and cloudy and blustery, and I doubt the temps got much higher than 44ish degrees. So in we stayed. I managed to get the kids occupied with coloring and painting, so thankfully the boob tube wasn’t on much. (It is now, but no colon cleanse commercials for us, thank you very much. I’ve got work to do and Dan is heading right for the PS3 and his Resident Evil game.)
Here’s to hoping that tomorrow and Wednesday are nicer days!
