We have a very hard time keeping pants on Ryan. For the longest time, in addition to taking off his pants frequently, he would do so while having a temper tantrum or meltdown. There were many instances of him trying to strip down in McDonald’s, at the playground and at the grocery store. Now he keeps his pants on in public, but at home we’re lucky if he’ll leave them on for more than five minutes.
Shirts, however, are not a problem. Ryan may want his pants off, but he wants his shirts ON. Sometimes he’ll want to wear three or four shirts all at the same time. The other day, for example, he could barely wiggle because he managed to squish himself into FOUR polo shirts. Usually though he just goes from one shirt to another throughout the day. Right now it’s not quite 12:30pm, and he’s already in his third shirt for the day.
What kind of clothing quirks do your kids have?
Name: Alyssa
Name: Ryan

My nephew prefers to wear his underwear backwards. He says that it is more comfortable to wear. and that is if we can get him to wear underwear at all; he loves to go commando.
My son, Elijah, hates socks. He will not wear them at all — doesn’t like the feel of them. So he has what he calls “Stanky” feet.
He has no problem with me getting him dressed, but I turn around 5 minutes later, he’s stripped everything off. If we leave the house, he’s fine with clothes on. But we walk back in the house or into my mother’s house — he strips down to just his diaper. He’s been stripping like that since he was about 1 and a half.
I’ve been trying to potty train him for some time (over a year). He will NOT wear underwear. Got him football underwear…even dinosaurs (his ‘obsession’) and that worked for about 2 minutes, then wanted his diaper back. He won’t even try to wear them again and will fight with all his might to not allow me to put them on him.
If anyone has any ideas at all on trying to get a child into wearing underwear PLEASE do share!
