If having two children has taught me anything, it’s that there are good gifts to give and bad baby gifts to give.
The good:
- Gift cards to Target, Babies ‘r Us, etc.
- Layette sets (these typically feature a gown or button-up suit, cap, bib and receiving blanket
- Crib bedding
- Nursery decor
- Baby gift baskets
- Useful things, like diapers and baby wipes
- Breast pump and other breastfeeding supplies
The bad:
- Coupons (this is just TACKY. It’s one thing to give them “just because”, but to give them as a gift? No. Just no.)
- Dirty clothes from consignment. There’s nothing wrong with secondhand, but there’s everything wrong with secondhand that looks like crap.
- Used toys
- Clothing that is clearly for the opposite gender
