Ryan is in preschool heaven. On Mondays and Wednesdays he attends a regular preschool with Alyssa (who also goes on Fridays, since she is in the older class). And now on Tuesdays and Thursdays he attends a special preschool for three and four year olds with developmental delays. He is one of fourteen in his regular preschool. In the special preschool, he is one of four, and there is practically a 1:1 ratio of kids & adults/teacher aids.
The cool thing about his special preschool is that the school district transports him. One mini-bus comes for him in the morning at 8:40am, and another drops him off around 11:40am. Not that I wouldn’t drive him to the school. I would, and I did on the first day. But hey, if free transportation is being offered, a service that is paid for by the school & property taxes we ourselves pay each year, then YES, I am all for it. Not having to run him back and forth gives me more time to work on writing about the best weight loss pill, how to trim a dog’s nails, pros and cons of the iPhone and whatever else the oh-so-awesome Demand Studios throws my way!
I’m not too sure what Ryan thinks of the bus, but he doesn’t cry or fuss, so that’s a good thing!

I’m also taking Ryan and Alyssa to a play therapy appointment every Thursday. The therapist is working with Ryan on social and play skills with cool toys like transformers and Magformers, and what better model than Alyssa? Plus having her there will help him learn how to play with her, and she enjoys the experience of new toys and someone new to play with.
Life has just been a whirlwind of appointments and meetings lately! I’m looking forward to the downtime that’ll come after the holidays, when everything will be thoroughly situated, the evaluations will be over until next summer, and Ryan’s special preschool will be on a two week break!

It’s great that the special preschool has such a small class where the kids can get lots of one on one, something most kids miss out on in any school setting. Not too much longer until you get that downtime, I am sure it can be a bit on the chaotic side going back and forth between tons of appointments and meetings. Just hang in there, I am sure things will slow before you know it!
