I’m watching SuperNanny, and I cannot believe how these kids are. Or should I say, how these parents are. No child is going to be so outrageously out of control unless their parents allow them to be. Let me tell you, the day my kid hits me, screams at me, or attacks their sibling to get my attention is the day I turn them and my uterus over to the state. I’m sorry, but NO child should be allowed to rule the roost like that. I seriously cannot imagine a household like that, since my household is not like that.
That’s not to say that we beat our children and rule them with an iron fist, or tile their bedrooms with stainless steel tiles and concrete floors, because we obviously don’t (we have soft, pleasing colors and wall-to-wall carpet, thank you very much!). But from the very beginning we have made it clear that we are the parents, what we say goes, and that we treat one another with respect. We say please and thank you, we ask and request, we respect our elders, and as children, we do what we’re told. We co-exist together peacefully, as a family, but make no mistake, Mommy and Daddy are in charge, and that’s that.
Man I wish it were closer to December. I keep seeing all of these commercials for Glade Christmas candles and Febreze Christmas scents… but it’s just not time yet to decorate. And that’s too bad, because Collectibles Today sent me the absolutely GORGEOUS Disney Tabletop Christmas Tree: The Wonderful World of Disney, and I can’t wait to put it up. Yet I also can wait, because I’m deathly afraid that Alyssa or Ryan (more likely Ryan) might accidentally break it.
Tell me that’s not absolutely gorgeous!

Name: Alyssa
Name: Ryan

Oh my gosh. I know. I haven’t seen the show in a while (we don’t have that chanel) but I did watch it quite a bit when we did. (hubby would even watch it with me!) I’ve never understood how a parent could let their child get like that. I’m like you… there is no need for an iron fist…but they still understand the rules and know who is in charge. (Although my step-son seems to be having trouble with all this recently).
The Disney tree is awesome! Hope it doesn’t get broken!
