Now that my husband and I have lived in our home for almost three years (I believe it’ll be three years of as March 25th, 2010!), we’re beginning to look for ways to improve it. Before we moved everything in we took the time to paint the bedrooms, and a few weeks later our kitchen floor was replaced due to the company we purchased our washer and dryer from damaging it during the installation. My husband has made various little improvements, we’ve upgraded the faucets in the kitchen and the bathrooms, we “traded up” to my grandfather’s high end, high quality refrigerator and stove (the ones that were in here were cheap and crappy), and more recently he installed a ceiling fan in the living room and another one in Alyssa’s bedroom (we also want to put one in Ryan’s room and then one in our bedroom).
But there’s still so much more we want to do. We have a few big projects that we’d like to tackle, including repainting our living room and kitchen, putting down new carpeting and much better padding in the living room, and eventually replacing the kitchen cabinets and counter tops. But those are extensive projects that will require both a lot of time and a lot of money. So while we work towards saving up for those projects, we plan on doing some smaller things first. There’s the two remaining ceiling fans to install, and I’d like to improve the look of our kitchen by putting new knobs on the cabinet doors. I’ve also been busy looking at a Home & Garden Directory and various home improvement blogs to get some cheap ideas on how to “upgrade” the look of our home.
A home is definitely always a work in progress, and it’s well worth every expense and hassle!
