I hate cheap candy.

Category:

Cheap, no-name candy grosses me out, because it IS gross. It’s not the lack of a name brand on it, it’s the fact that it tastes like shit. You wouldn’t put that kind of crap in wedding favors, so why would you give any less consideration to little kids? I feel like bitch smacking the moms of Alyssa’s classmates, the ones who send cheap, crappy, horrible tasting candy and chocolate in the treat bags and goodie bags for the various holiday parties. And it’s not as if most of these moms can’t afford a $4 bag of Hershey kisses. They can, considering they’re running around in SUVs and newer mini-vans. And even if they are on a budget, hello? Including Alyssa, there’s just 15 kids in her class. Two $4 bags of candy will more than provide enough goodies for them to munch on!

Anyway. I always buy name-brand candy. The candy I picked out for the take-home treat bags I’m sending in for Alyssa’s Easter party is no exception: one bag of Hershey’s bunny-shaped chocolate, and one bag of Reese’s peanut butter eggs. Since I don’t want to overload the kidlets on sugar or tie them to an unhealthy association with food, I also picked up Play-doh Easter eggs ($1.99 for a 4-pack; I picked up four packs, obviously), Easter-themed pencils ($1.99 for 20), and a three foot roll of stickers that I divided up ($1.99). Plus there are the cute egg-decorated cellophane bags ($1.99 for 10; I purchased two packs). So what’s that… $16 + tax? I’m not cheap, and Alyssa’s preschool class is worth something a little nice for Easter. :)

Very cute! I love Reece’s cups, so the eggs sound pretty good too! :O
