I just got done listening to The Mommy Song. It’s a really sweet song that Rick Penn-Kraus wrote/performed/recorded for his wife, just in time for Mother’s Day. The theme surrounding the song is that it’s entirely possible to surprise your wife with something sweet and sentimental without spending a small fortune.
The song is definitely sweet, and it gave me plenty of thoughts of and flashbacks to the thousands of memories I have of my relationship with my children (both together and separately). And I’m sure Rick’s wife loved it. But to be honest, the song is a little too personal to be mainstream, you know? He is singing about a specific woman and a specific child, and gets so specific so as to mention actual memories and things that relate to his wife, his child, their life, etc — such as Play-doh crafts, songs sang together, childrens clothes folded, etc.. So while I do like it, I probably won’t be downloading it…
Meh. Now I feel like a huge ass for writing this. How can I promote a song yet put it down at the same time?
In any case, guys, do something nice for your wife in honor of Mother’s Day. ♥

Hi Jenn,
Thanks for listening to The Mommy Song and reviewing it. Glad you enjoyed it!
Even though I sing about specifics, I thought they were general enough to apply to most of the moms out there: cutting food into shapes, playing with paint and home made Play-Doh, searching for things to do online, always having time to rock him, etc. I really believe the song applies to moms in general, which is why no name is mentioned, either.
So don’t be too hard on yourself. I’m thrilled more people get to experience it, via your great site. Have a wonderful Mother’s Day!
