Me, for hoping that Alyssa gets placed in a full-day kindergarten class next fall (I take her in next Monday at 1:00pm for registration & placement testing). I know she would absolutely love the full-day experience, and I would too (more time to play with online backup and write about baby shower decorations and do my general freelancing work!). But her being in full-day kindergarten means that she is in need of extra educational instruction. Which essentially means that I’m hoping my daughter is dumb enough in order to be in school full-time in kindergarten.
Ugh.
Chances are she’ll be enrolled in half-day, because she is a very smart little girl (though Dan and I have both noticed that she struggles with letter/sound/word recognition, even more so than Ryan — and he is two years younger than her and autistic!), but I still can’t help but to hope that they have a “regular” full-day class for the kids who are smart and crave education!

I don’t think you’re a bad mom! I think that’s understandable. Half day kindergarten must be a newer thing, because it wasn’t like that when I was younger. The kindergarten that my son will be going to gets out earlier than the other kids but it’s not half day.
Luckily here in Tennessee all kindergarten is full day and my daughter doesn’t turn 5 until September 10th, but the cut off is September 30th. Don’t feel bad, I am super excited about her being in real school and I think she is more than ready! Being a WAHM, I know how you feel! Registration is on Friday and she already had a visit to the school with her preschool class. Good luck which ever way it goes!
