Ryan has been doing perfectly with wearing underwear and using the toilet like a Big Boy. But for about a week now he has been having very small “accidents” in his underwear. And by accidents I mean what looks like skidmarks or sharts… well, as of today it’s clear that these aren’t sharts or residue, but the result of him holding his bowel movements. He did this on a regular basis last fall and winter, pretty much up until he potty-trained, but then he was suddenly fine with going into the toilet. I have NO idea what has gotten into him or why he is suddenly going back to holding his bowel movements. I’m really aggravated and frustrated with dealing with the mess, and the 10+ pairs of underwear he’ll go through in a day. I’m also concerned for him, since something must be upsetting him and subsequently triggering this need of his to retain control by not going to the bathroom.
Tonight we put him to bed in a diaper. I really hesitated, but I’m tired of the messes. Dan loaded him up with laxatives and a suppository this evening, so hopefully he’ll let loose and have things moving along again by tomorrow afternoon…
This entry brought to you by poop, or the lack thereof (in an efficient form, anyway), as well as my last minute research and article writing on Shingle Recycling Companies. *sigh*

You know, Corbin went through that phase about a year after potty training. He started wetting his pants though. Like he’d get so involved in playing in the backyard or something that he would forget he had to go and by the time I encouraged him to go, it was too late. Really frustrating but will pass, I’m sure.
