Today Dan and I took the kids to an outdoor picnic/event held at a local park in honor of all of the children with disabilities in the county. It was free to attend, and offered free hot dogs, snacks, and drinks, as well as plenty of activities for the kids, including a humongous bounce house. And since it was held at a local park, there was a small playground near by that was perfect for Alyssa, Ryan and the dozens of other kids in attendance to go play on.
My mom and brothers came, and afterwards the seven of us (eight, if you count the parent trainer that tags along on the weekend outings my mom has with the boys) went back to her house. Dan put my brothers to work cleaning out gutters and mowing the lawn, and even Alyssa and Ryan pitched in. Ryan wanted to go up on the roof to help out Dan and my brother, but of course I said no freaking way. Instead he got to pick up sticks and rake up leaves. Later he and Alyssa used shovels to help my brother put the raked up leaves and gunk flung from the gutters into garbage cans, and then Dan and my brothers helped them drag the cans off to the woods to dump everything in. Fun times. As for me, I fetched drinks for Dan and did a little sweeping. What can I say? I don’t do yard work.
I don’t have a medical condition like eczema that might be aggravated by being out in the sun. I just don’t do yard work. I’ll do any other kind of work but that!
So, how was your Saturday? Do anything fun or interesting?
