As Code Name: Mama points out, breastfeeding in bathrooms is not only a gross thought, it IS gross, because of the simple fact that flushing toilets emit a geyser of water, bacteria, and fecal matter.
If you need to breastfeed your baby, please, for the love of god, do it anywhere but in a bathroom. You’ll also be reinforcing the fact that breastfeeding is a natural, nutritionally beneficial, positive experience, not something secretive, embarrassing and shameful that must be hid away. If you absolutely have to, use a blanket, but might I recommend wearing your baby in a sling or wrap? The material of the sling or wrap will provide discretion for the times when your baby needs to nurse. Another idea is to wear two tops — a tank or cami beneath your normal top. When you need to breastfeed, pull the bottom of your topmost-layered top up, and the top of your tank or cami down – ta-da, your breast is ready and available for your baby, and you’re still afforded some measure of privacy! For swimsuits, look for plus women swimwear in halter/v-neck style, as those types of suits are the easiest to nurse in (and yes, I speak from personal experience).
I can’t tell you how many times I breastfed Alyssa and Ryan like this and no one even knew I was breastfeeding!

THANK YOU! I totally agree. I would never take my dinner into a bathroom to eat, and I don’t think babies should have to either. I discreetly nursed both of mine in public and carried them in my Maya Wrap.
