The community pool opened yesterday at noon, and we were here a few minutes afterward. Yesterday was kind of nervewracking for me, as it was my first time taking Alyssa and Ryan to the pool alone. Up until yesterday I always had Dan, my mom, or Jason with me. But overall it wasn’t nearly as bad as it could have been. Before we even arrived I emphasized the importance of listening to me and staying in the shallow end (I’m a good swimmer, but I can’t exactly be in two places at once, you know?). I also laid out the consequences if my instructions weren’t obeyed — and Ryan only wound up in time-out once! Whew!
Anyway, right now I’m typing this from the pool. Well, not from the pool, obviously, but from the pavilion that is next to the pool. Dan is here with me, and we’re both watching/playing with the kids. Alyssa and Ryan are both suited up in swimwear, flotation devices (Alyssa is wearing the Power Swimr and Ryan is wearing the Ocean Pacific Boys’ swim trainer), goggles, and loads of sunscreen.
