The other night Alyssa came to Dan and I to show us a loose tooth — one of the bottom front middle teeth. A few hours later she remarked that the one next to it felt loose as well, and sure enough, it was! I was SO excited for her. She was so cute about it too. She had numerous questions, including a question about what happens after the old tooth falls out — does a new one come in? Does she need to go to the dentist? Will the new tooth be white, or will it be gold? All of her questions were amazingly adorable, and so filled with wonder and excitement that I felt myself tearing up several times. Lame, I know.
Anyway, Alyssa’s tooth came out yesterday! She had been working at it all morning and afternoon with her tongue, and came in while I was researching spring plungers (for another article, of course) and asked me to help her pull it out. I cleaned a pair of tweezers, warned her to tell me if it hurt at all, and gave her loose tooth a gentle tug. It didn’t come out, but after she pushed at it with her tongue it did!
The little fairy doll Alyssa is holding came from Gifts Define. Isn’t it adorable? I’ve been holding onto it for over TWO YEARS! I was so excited to give it to her the other night in preparation for her tooth coming out. ♥
After she went to bed last night Dan and I snuck in, removed her tooth from the little pouch the fairy is holding (I put her tooth in my jewelry box; I’m going to have to figure out a better spot for it!), and put a dollar coin in its place. Her squeals and “Mommy, guess what!” this morning alerted Dan and I to the fact that she woke up and found the coin. I can only imagine the look of excitement, hope, and wonder on her face.
My little baby is growing up! :*)
