Ryan is joining the long-haired boys club. His last haircut was..let’s see…last May? That sounds about right. At the time we cut his hair like we normally do every few months – as close to his scalp as possible, because he screams and fidgets with every hair cut, even though we’re gentle and use high-quality hair clippers. The downside of cutting a fair-skinned boy’s hair so close to the scalp, especially in springtime? The need to apply sunscreen to his scalp, lest that burn too.
Anyway, Ryan has been insistent on growing his hair long (“to the sky”, if you ask him), and so long as he keeps it clean and brushed1, I don’t care how long he has it. And seeing as how all of his clothes are definitely “boy” in color and style, I doubt he’ll be mistaken for a girl. And even if he is, so what? It’s a simple correction. Personally, I think it’s really freaking adorable. ♥
