Ryan doesn’t get sick very often, but when he does, he gets sick. A year ago, for instance, just a couple of days before Christmas, Ryan had a double ear infection and strep throat at the same time. This past November he was sick with a double ear infection (can’t the kid do just one?). And this morning I took him to the doctor due to last week’s dry, minor cough turning into a deeper, chest-rattling cough, and he was diagnosed with pneumonia.
Needless to say, between Tuesday’s dental surgery and getting so sick over the course of this week, Ryan didn’t go to school today. You’d think most children would be happy to miss three out of five days of school, but in Ryan’s case he’s both flabbergasted and annoyed to not have gone five days straight.
Currently Ryan has been plied and mostly sated with chicken noodle soup, applesauce, his favorite cartoons, and some Animal Crackers, plus a running-at-max humidifier. Dan is picking up Ryan’s medications – Amoxicillin for the pneumonia and codeine cough syrup for the coughing – now, and once he comes home I won’t be able to get the first dosage of both meds into my sick little guy fast enough. :/
