Ryan had a bad day at school today. I got an email1 from his teacher this afternoon, letting me know that Ryan was made to walk around the perimeter of the playground at recess rather than play on the playground. He was made to walk because he tried to make a run for it. He tried to make a run for it because he wasn’t happy about having a four minute timeout (recess is 15 minutes). He had a four minute timeout because he extended his original one minute timeout for not settling down and listening to the teacher. And finally, he got the original one minute timeout for not listening when the teacher asked him to read the words he knew out of a few sentences2.

Since being home Ryan has been a little cranky and fussy – a little yell- and stomp-happy too.

I think the room switching thing is what has Ryan all in a lather. It’s been a long time since he had a downward spiral of bad behavior like this.

Well, that’s just one more reason for Dan and I to step it up and get these rooms switched ASAP. The sooner Ryan sees and becomes accustomed to being in his “new” bedroom, the sooner he’ll settle down and hopefully have good days once again.

Poor Ryan. I know he loves school. See?

Or at the very least, he loves the school bus!
