This was passed down from my grandmother to my mother, and from my grandmother and mother to me. First, stock up on your supplies:

1 gallon of milk

Clean diaper

A&D Original Ointment (psst… here’s a $1 off coupon!)

Ammens Medicated Powder

Run a bath for the child. Pour the gallon of cold milk into the tub. Be sure to adjust the temperature of the water to compensate for the cold milk.

Place child in bath for at least fifteen minutes. The purpose of the bath is to give the affected skin plenty of contact with the milk that is in the water. Soap is optional (but it won’t hurt!).

Diaper time: position the diaper beneath the child. You’re going to need it in place because are things are sure to get messy. As gently as possible, pat dry the affected area.

Apply the A&D Original Ointment: use thick, generous amounts over the affected skin.

Apply the Ammens Medicated Powder on top of the A&D Original Ointment. Also use a generous amount of this.

Finish diapering the child.

Check diaper frequently — change frequently, and re-apply the A&D Original Ointment and Ammens Medicated Powder.

Repeat the milk bath once daily until diaper rash begins to clear up.

If you’re lucky, the diaper rash will clear up within a day or two. Within hours of the initial application you should notice a definite improvement.
