On Thursday night, when I was busy planning out my Friday (eye exam, an afternoon at the McDonalds play land for Alyssa and Ryan) and weekend, Dan came in, and in the midst of me griping about being busy and stressed, he told me to pack my bags, because we were going to Pittsburgh on Friday morning!

Pittsburgh is significant to me — to us — because we used to live there. My husband went there for college in the summer of 2000, and I joined him in his apartment so we could live together as of August 2002. We moved away at the end of 2003, and haven’t been back since. I have been wanting to go back for quite a while, but I never knew when I’d get the chance.

Needless to say, I was head over heels excited when he sprung the good news upon me. I started jumping and squealing and planting dozens of kisses all over his face. Oh yes. I was happy. He planned out everything — when we’d go, where we’d stay, even babysitting.

So, since 8am Friday morning, I have been resigned from my duties as Mom. It’s just been Dan and I.

I love Pittsburgh. Here’s a photo I took of it today. As you can see, the city skyline is all about the steel buildings.
