EdenFantasys has recently started carrying makeup, and one of the items I purchased for myself (as an early Christmas gift) is the Bella in Bloom Eye Shadow Palette. This palette, which is available in three different color shades (I have all three – Annabelle, Lola, and Peony) features eight different eye shadows in a range of colors and matte and shimmer finishes, all of which complement one another (which is always nice if you like to layer or blend your shadows). Unless I’m sick of have been medically required to not wear makeup (in preparation for surgery), it’s a rare day that I don’t wear some kind of makeup, even if it’s just a light shadow paired with a quick layer of black mascara.

The shadows in the Bella in Bloom Eye Shadow palettes are gorgeous, and they’re just the right shades that they’ll work with just about any outfit, any occasion, and any season. The shadows themselves are hard-pressed, but easy enough to gather on a small eye shadow brush (I didn’t bother to use the included applicator, as I’ve become a bit snobbish in terms of how I apply my eye makeup – applicator brushes just don’t cut it, unless you’re using the tip of one to apply pressed or cream shadow as an eyeliner). The colors easily pop out, and can be applied dry for a sheer finish, in layers for a more opaque finish, or wet for a bright, color-popping finish – your choice! The colors last quite a while, and I didn’t notice any flaking or creasing.

Bottom line? For $13.99, this 8-piece shadow kit is worth picking up. Psst… use coupon code ES2 to save 15% on your order.

Okay, so it won’t take the place of a real Christmas tree (which my husband will probably run out and get the first weekend of December), but the Disney Tabletop Christmas Tree that Collectibles Today sent me will sure be a nice addition to our Christmas decor! Between it and the crystal holiday tree I’m definitely all over the Disney one, if for no other reason that it includes Beauty and the Beast (which my daughter loves) and Winnie the Pooh (which I love).

The Disney Tabletop Christmas Tree arrived securely packaged in a large box and form-fitting Styrofoam about a week and a half ago. When my husband brought it out yesterday evening my kids’ reactions were pretty much variations of, “Oooh!” and, “Ahh!”. Ryan was immediately attracted to the trains that go around two tiers of the tree. He was also upset that the train on the very top tier is stationery; he kept pushing on it in the hopes that it would move.

Once turned on, the Disney Tabletop Christmas Tree lights up, two of the trains and the tiers of characters move, and a medley of instrumental Christmas music plays (there’s also an option to just have the tree lit and moving, but with no music).

Here’s a video showing the tree in action, and Alyssa’s and Ryan’s reactions:

Sorry that it’s sideways — I can’t figure out how to rotate it!

This review is a result of a feedback campaign by Collectibles Today. I was asked to give an honest opinion about the product I received. Good reviews are not incentivized and poor reviews will not be censored for the opinion of the product.

For the last few years I have seen a lot of commercials advertising cash for gold. So when a paid blogging company asked if I would be interested in trying out Cash For Gold’s service, I said sure. I had taken a look at their website and saw that in addition to gold, they also accepted silver (and titanium, diamonds, watches and estate jewelry, but I don’t have any of those except diamonds, and I plan on keeping my diamonds, since they’re in my engagement ring!). Silver is one thing I have a lot of, and I have some extra bracelets, trinkets, charms and such that I no longer wear or have any sentimental attachment to.

After signing up for Cash For Gold, the shipping instructions and padded envelope was at my front door within two days. Sending the items back was as easy as putting them in a clear bag (included with the shipping materials) and noting what I was sending back. I then went online to find a FedEx drop-off box, and took the sealed envelope to the closest location I found (slightly related: both FedEx and UPS have drop-off boxes all over the damn place, but they’re never where you would expect them to be!).

I did hear back from Cash For Gold very quickly — within two days — but not with good news. The items I sent them are apparently not worth anything, but they still generously offered to send everything back via USPS. Which they did, and quite quickly, if I do say so myself.

While I haven’t personally been able to compensate from Cash For Gold’s pay-for-gold (and other precious metals and gems) services, I have heard of other people being offered a decent deal for unwanted jewelry. But I did interact with their customer service, albeit briefly, and they seemed honest and decent.

DenTek sent me a pack of DenTek Fun Flossers to try out. They’re disposable kids floss holders, but their neon bright colors and fruity flavors make them appealing for kids. Flossing is a good habit to instill as early as possible. While brushing twice a day will remove bacteria and build-up on the surfaces of teeth and on the surface of the tongue, flossing removes the bacteria and gross build-up that accumulates between teeth — the small nooks, crannies and crevices that most toothbrushes cannot get into.

My husband really got into flossing last spring, when it became apparent that some of his dental problems were tied in with the beginnings of gingivitis. Not long after he began brushing twice a day and flossing as if his very life depended on it, I too began flossing and paying more attention to my dental hygiene. Our kids, naturally, see what we do and want to emulate it.

I’m happy to report that the DenTek Fun Flossers are a hit. Alyssa and Ryan were both immediately attracted to the bright colors (Alyssa opted for pink, of course; while Ryan chose green), and got right to business with flossing. Alyssa has gotten so good at it that she barely needs a mirror! Ryan benefits from us helping him floss, though he certainly knows the basics and likes to have a go of it on his own.
