Today a package arrived in the mail… for Alyssa! My friend/employer Cat sent her a Hello Kitty velour hoodie and a Hello Kitty ballerina tutu as a belated birthday present. Alyssa had been a bit whiny and out of sorts over not having a stuffed white tiger to add to her collection of stuffed orange tigers, but you better believe her eyes lit up and she was all smiles once she saw what was waiting for her on our kitchen table!
(I can’t tell you how much Alyssa loves Hello Kitty. I’m sure we’ll be doing yet another HK themed birthday party this year, complete with a HK cake and HK party favors!)

Ryan is 25 months old, and have exactly two words from him: Mama and uh oh. Uh oh, came first, about a month ago when I exclaimed the word over some mess, and Ryan started repeating it. He sounds so adorable when he says it. He’s a big, husky toddler (Dan recently remarked that he plowed over Alyssa in his excitement to get to a toy; sadly, PLOWED is a good word to describe it!) with a deep, husky baby voice. I love it.

He doesn’t say Mama as much, but I’m working on trying to catch him saying it when I have my video-recording digital camera in hand.

Two words at 25 months sounds pitiful, but for an autistic toddler I suppose it’s better than nothing! I admit, I cried when he said Mama.

Thank god for memory books, blogs and digital cameras with video capabilities. Toddlers are quite notorious for the most adorable mispronunciations. I try to capture each and every one of them on camera and make a note of them, because years down the line I’ll wind up forgetting half of them.

Alyssa’s most recent word fumble is spaghetti. Or, as she pronounces it, spa-da-ghetti.

Please tell me I’m not the only mom who deliberately coaxes her kid to say a mispronounced word just to ooh and ahh over it.
